Blackvue DR590X-2CH Dash Cam Review

The BlackVue DR590X-2CH is an HD dash cam that is easy to install for both your front and rear camera. If you’re a driver looking for full HD video resolution, but don’t need the premium 4K UHD models, this is a fantastic option for you.

It is considered an “entry-level” dash cam, but with full 1080p HD videos and 139-degree angles -- and superior night vision -- this Dash Cam likely ticks a lot of your boxes. Read on to discover more about the Blackvue DR590X-2CH Dash Cam and all its features.

How Does Blackvue DR590X-2CH Dash Cam Work?

The Blackvue dash cam is installed to the windshield behind the rear view mirror. You attach it with double sided tape. This helps ensure that the dash cam is out of your line of vision, but still provides you the coverage you need. The Blackview DR590X is solely a dash cam for your windshield, but if you purchase the DR590X-2CH system, you will have access to connect a rear camera.

To attach the rear camera, use the connecting cable to run down the length of your truck and attach it on your rear windshield or bumper.

After your camera is set up, the video footage that is captured is saved on a microSD card. There is no screen that comes with this dash cam. Instead, you will need to remove the microSD card to play back your video on a computer. You also have the option of using the BlackVue mobile app with a WiFi connection to view your videos.

Can I Use Blackvue DR590X-2CH Dash Cam Without Phone?

Performance Factors of Blackvue DR590X-2CH Dash Cam

Keep your videos safe. The unit comes with a 32GB microSD card, but upgrade to a 128 GB or 256 GB size and you’ll have plenty of space to keep your videos secure. The video overwrites feature records videos in a loop -- meaning that the oldest data is overwritten with new data. But with event overwrite protection, up to 50 of your files can be protected to not be overwritten.

The wider angle video camera captures a 139-degree angle. This wider coverage allows for more details to be captured in case of any event -- without any video distortion.

Built-in WiFi allows users to easily view and transfer videos with the simplicity of the Blackvue App.
