Steamship agent

An individual or entity who manages the details of porting a ship and acts as liaison between ship owners, local port authorities, terminals, tug services and various vendors. The agency, which does not own the vessel, is responsible for facilitating loading and unloading; ensuring that supplies are replenished and service needs are met; organizing staff; and handling inspections so ships are able to quickly continue their journeys.
