Jack-knife

A term that refers to when the trailer of a tractor-trailer combination pushes the tractor from behind until it spins out of control and comes into contact with the side of the truck cab. Jack-knifing occurs mostly on slippery surfaces when a tractor that weighs less than its loaded trailer loses traction.
