Now that electronic logging devices (ELDs) are mandatory for commercial vehicles, many trucking companies are searching for the best tools to ensure their drivers are in compliance.
Currently, the Drive ELD is a solid choice for drivers and fleet managers looking for ELD solutions that come with software and hardware. Let’s take a few minutes to explore the features and benefits of DriveELD’s products and services.
How Does the Drive ELD Work?
Every ELD device consists of two components: the ELD unit itself, or the hardware, and the software required to run the software. An ELD communicates directly with the engine of a commercial vehicle, recording data along the lines of the following:
- Miles driven
- Driver’s location
- Engine hours
- Ignition status
- Engine information
This data is uploaded to a server, which is where the software comes into play. Drivers and administrators can access this data through an ELD mobile app or via the fleet management software. This allows them to optimize their drivers’ performance and ensure compliance with regulations is maintained.
The Drive ELD device itself is compact and durable. It mounts directly to the vehicle’s 9-pin diagnostic port. The Drive ELD system also allows data to be viewed on a smartphone or wireless device.
The Drive ELD software can assist trucker workflow by analyzing data and providing tools to optimize routes. DriveELD’s software isn’t as advanced as some of their competitors, but the features they provide can still go a long way toward improving driver efficiency and providing fleet management solutions for an entire company.

Drive ELD Performance Factors
DriveELD has been ranked highly for its durability, value, and performance. Its features can be used to optimize driver workflow, improve fleet efficiency, and provide data that is useful in calculating IFTA fuel taxes.
The integrated dashcam will also activate in the event of a defined sudden driving event or if the driver hits the panic button. The ELD will also capture footage that can be used as evidence in the event of an accident.
In addition to the ELD unit itself, the company also offers additional fleet management solutions, including driver coaching and dispatch management tools. This makes DriveELD a useful resource for trucking and logistics companies alike.
How Has the Drive ELD Improved?
The company itself has only been in operation since 2017, and the ELD mandate itself remains relatively new. The Drive ELD system does not appear to have changed since its inception, though it’s conceivable that we might see some adaptation in the future if and when the mandate evolves.
The Drive ELD system is best in the following instances:
- Fleets of any size
- Fleets looking for value
- Owner-operators looking to optimize workflow
Since the company offers scalable solutions, DriveELD can grow alongside your fleet.
One of the Best ELD Solutions Available
Many industry leaders have already experienced the advantages of the Drive ELD system. Scalable pricing structures allow DriveELD to adapt to the unique needs of your entire fleet.
Since the ELD mandate has only recently been implemented, it’s likely that the system will get some updates and changes in the near future. However, at the current time, DriveELD is promising in terms of its ability to meet current FMCSA requirements.

However, we imagine DriveELD will roll out additional features in the near future. Some of these features may reflect potential and recent changes to the ELD mandate.
Just got through our first year with DriveELD, and still can’t believe how nice this app is. They just added breadcrumbing too, which is great for my other drivers I manage. 5 stars.
Great customer service truly care about truckers in supporting them. Very quick to answer your question in resolving any issues that arise. Sideservers are awesome!!
Had this ELD for about two years now. I called them to ask when my renewal was due and they told me to leave a review if I felt motivated to do so. Well, after recommending them to several friends on the road and using them for a while now, I can say that they make logging very easy. I don’t really have problems with it, and if I ever do, I call them and always get an answer/call back very shortly. Editing is easy, and I like that I can do IFTA with it. They’ve added a lot of stuff in the past year too, which I’ve liked. Keep er up Driveeld.
I switched from RM to DriveELD and have had no problems. For a single truck guy I have found it to be the best and cheapest ELD option. Great support and easy to use product. Well done..
I wanted to share an experience we had with DriveELD as we made the switch. I have a driver that’s been with me in his own truck for several years now. He has a 2001 Freightliner and we were unable to get One20 to work with it. And, they were absolutely no help what-so-ever! Just so there wasn’t any miscommunications, I put the driver in direct contact with your customer service dept. They tried working with my driver over approximately 15-20 days to try and solve the problem, but it started shutting down his transmission for some strange reason. He then received a call back from someone with your company saying they were going to come out to his home in Vancouver, WA to get the issue resolved. When he told me this, clearly I was in disbelief. In fact, I think my exact response was, “Right!” I think it was 6 days later he said he would go there and I received a call from my driver on that day to tell me your guy actually showed up in an Uber. Both of us were in a state of shock! The guy actually came!! My driver told me he came on ... Read Full Review

Who does that!?
In all my life I’ve never experienced any level of customer service that has ever gone that far out of their way to service customers.
The DriveELD app is very simple to use on any mobile device and is very economical compared to many of the other options available on the market today. It is also very simple to install and works with light duty trucks with the OBDII connector. The staff is very accessible if you have any questions and are open to suggestions for improvements. I would highly recommend purchasing the DriveELD app if you are just now looking for your first device, or are unhappy with your current application and are looking for an improved option.
DriveELD is easy to operate and is the cheapest. I’ve saved hundreds of dollars compared to all of my friends with their ELD systems..
I’ve been running on this app for about a month now without any trouble. Recently I messed up a log and I called to have them help me edit. They answered right away and helped me through the pretty quick process of editing my log. Really helpful support and a really easy app.
This device so far has been very user friendly. Along with the great customer service I have also received, I am very satisfied. Bailey Hawn is the individual at Drive-ELD and has gone above and beyond since my purchase. I am a hot shot owner operator. I highly recommend Drive-ELD. This was the most economical way to satisfy the ELD requirements.
This company & their employers are all professional & go that extra mile to make their customers happy. Such a pleasure to talk to them. They truly care about the industry they represent.
I’m very impressed with this company. When you call them someone (a real person) answers the phone and help you threw EVERYTHING! Customer service is awesome!
ELD App is very straight forward. Very easy to use.
I do recommend. Price is solid.
I have been using Drive ELD now for about a month. For 7 months I tried to use the Rand McNally system and it was a nightmare. During that time they sent me numerous units and could never get them to work. On March 31st I was pulled over and received 4 violations. When I got home I call 3 of the top ELD rated companies on this site. Bailey is the only one that called me back. They mailed me the unit and that night my Dog ate the cord! I called Bailey and asked if I could drive up and if he would help me put it in. I was out of time. No time to mail it. I drove 2 1/2 hours and he put it in for me and I have not had any problems since. If you think the price is too good to be true, it really is not! It works and is really easy to use! My experience with Bailey and Drive ELD is the difference of night and day compared to Rand McNally!!!
Great customer service truly care about truckers in supporting them. Very quick to answer your question in resolving any issues that arise. Bailey is awesome!!
