Precision scheduled railroading (PSR)

An operational method in which freight movements are scheduled and managed by the individual carload rather than trains as a whole. Also known as precision railroading, PSR improves asset utilization and efficiency by reducing the need for classification terminals, enabling direct point-to-point routing, and increasing opportunities to use long mixed-commodity trains.
