A third-party company or middleman that coordinates the door-to-door transport and documentation of shipments from an origin point to a destination. Often that entails consolidating small shipments from various shippers into larger shipments to form a full container, truck or car load. Forwarders send the consolidated freight to a station where it is disassembled and routed to the proper destinations.
