Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ)

Also known as free-trade zones, FTZs are secure areas located near U.S. Customs ports of entry where companies are allowed to store, repair, clean and kit goods, among other activities, prior to customs clearance. This allows for delayed or reduced duty payments on foreign merchandise to encourage trade and help keep prices low.
